Summary
Children's bikes range from 12 to 26 inches. Body height matters more than age. From 95 cm → 12", 105 cm → 16", 120 cm → 20", 135 cm → 24", 140 cm → 26". Test rides available at Bike Haus Freiburg.
Why is the right bike size so important?
A bike that's too big or too small is not only uncomfortable — it's also unsafe. Children who can't safely touch the ground with their feet can't react properly in dangerous situations.
Size Chart: Children's Bikes by Height
- 12 inch: Height 95–105 cm (approx. 2–4 years)
- 16 inch: Height 105–120 cm (approx. 4–6 years)
- 20 inch: Height 120–135 cm (approx. 6–9 years)
- 24 inch: Height 135–145 cm (approx. 8–12 years)
- 26 inch: Height from 140 cm (approx. 10–14 years)
Tip: Measure your child's inseam length. The child should be able to touch the ground with both balls of their feet while sitting on the saddle.
